Nominated for the Sony Future Filmmakers Award, TWENTY tells the story of the girl behind the number.
The film follows Emily, a homeless ballet dancer undertaking a potentially life-changing audition. In the audition room, she is known only as Number Twenty — poised, disciplined, and graceful. Outside of it, she struggles to find somewhere to sleep, let alone the stability required to sustain her artistry.
TWENTY is an independent short film. It played over forty film festivals, picking up numerous accolades and awards along the way.
The film features Lorraine Ashbourne (Bridgerton, The Crown). The score was composed by Hugh Brunt (Tár, You Were Never Really Here), mixed at Abbey Road Studios, with sound design by Steve Giammaria (The Bear, Theater Camp).
TWENTY was made in support from Shelter, the UK housing and homelessness charity.
Blending social realism with an intimate, physical approach, TWENTY explores creative survival, homelessness, and the fragile line between discipline and self-destruction.
